Marble boat

By xwang
According to the web,it is a lakeside pavilion on the grounds of the Summer Palace in Beijing, China.
It was first erected in 1755 during the reign of the Qianlong Emperor. The original pavilion was made from a base of large stone blocks which supported a wooden superstructure done in a traditional Chinese design

A fascinating structure, Jasmine, and your picture is certainly as good as the Wikipedia one. You have some good colour in the sky and lots of detail in the boat, despite the light being behind it.
Thankyou for the link. I was interested to read that it was destroyed in 1860 and restored in 1893, made out of wood but painted to imitate marble, just like its predecessor. I think the imitation paddlewheels are a nice feature, too.
I did think it was the talk about Chinese New Year made you home sick, but it was just the blue sky and the nature of a rolling stoneWink

Oh, yeah..I've remembered now..I wasn't going when you talked about Chinese new year in China town.. ...Maybe the talk changed my mind, so I went, to a bigger China town and had several smaller partiesGrin
Thank you Pamela, glad that you had a good read. There has been a lot talkings about this palace...
The boat's going nowhere.. I wished it could, when I was on it..(it was allowed to get on the boat before, but not now, because there are too many people these days..)
