This is a very unusual specimen for me, have never seen one. Wonderful capture and not with your longest glass. Kudos sir. They sit very high out of the water for a diver, quite unusual. Nicely done Tony, TFS.

This area being Vancouver Island British Columbia. Their area is a slim band up and down the Alaska and B.C. Pacific coast south to California. Nesting was unknown until 1974 when a Russian ornithologist found a murrelet nest in a huge tree on the Kamchatka peninsula Russia. [From the Audubon Field Guide] I read elsewhere that they mingle with flocks of bigger sea birds and thus are very difficult to spot on the rocks. The Murrelet is not mentioned in the Euro Bird Guide. TG
