Market Street, Hexham

By woolybill1
Two soberly decorated doorways over white but nondescript doors, both of which lead to small shops. I must have wandered past many hundreds of times without noticing them before. I was not particularly looking for pictures but just had to take this. How one's perception is heightened simply by the carrying of a camera!

31mm, 1/100th sec. @ f8, ISO 400

(Incidentally, I stupidly cropped a sliver too tight in the camera, so MrsW kindly recreated it for me using her far greater application of Patience.)

Nice capture Bill and well done Moira.

Beautiful composition; a prime example of Moira's cherished 'almost symmetrical' images.

Yes, "almost symmetrical" was the first thought that came to my mind too. Interesting shot. Awareness heightening (is that a word) is one of the most priceless gifts of photography, I think.

I would vote for number 20, simply because they have better 'knockers'.

I suppose it goes to show that there are good photos to be had everywhere. Really like this image. Sheila

Is it the carrying of the camera that heightens our perception? For me I seem to see even more when I forget to carry it, and remember those shots that got away. They never are the same, even if you go back!
A very simple architectural shot, what makes it stand out for me, is the light.

Yes,modern, sober doors here but still rather appealing surroundings.A touch of peeling and neglect but still rather pristine.Good comp for a good linear image here Bill.

I agree Bill, carrying a camera gives you an acute view of the world around us. (I find myself staring more, mostly at people thinking how they would look if I photographed them, not good when I'm out in company)
nice capture of two doors, simple but appealing

Striking shapes - and no, the doors aren't that boring. I'm surprised you weren't drawn to the knockers Wink
