Thanks all.
Jeremy, this is a single frame with a four stop SE ND grad. I can never be bothered to blend exposures but that might change with the improved capabilities of ACR to create a composite DNG.

I see a lovely toned rock in th f/g and then a line in from the rocks in the pool and by that time the backdrop and sky have you captured and feeling the need to go there....so for me this works well when processed in the the fight hands as it is here............

For 'busy' read lots of interest. Quality light on the rocks as well, Alun. Been toying with blending as well but a bit nervous about dipping my toes in the water yet Smile

It has taken me a while to get used to using a wide angle with more f/g interest - so I know what you mean but
I love it. The reflected light in the f/g pulls it all together.

The reason that the image works so well is that the lead in through the rocks is so strong that it cuts right through that apparently busy foreground.
Then the eye goes back and takes in all that wonderful texture.
It's an absolute better Alun.

Thanks all and to Andy, Paul and Dave for the badges - cheers guys
Derek - that's what I hoped to achieve. I broke one of my own rules here by slicing a rock at the bottom of the frame but it had to be done and I wanted it tight to the bottom left to begin the lead line. glad you think it works as I wasn't sure about this one.
