Mason Bees

It's been a rather windy day today and this morning I heard a bit of a crash and dashed into the garden to find the bug hotel had blown over!

I dashed out and the bees waited patiently while I picked everything up, put it all back together and made sure the hotel was firmly attached to the garage.

I saw this pair go into the tubes so just stood there and waited for them to reappear - happily at the same time!

Did they go in and turn round? (which would be a neat trick) or go in from the other end?

Nice capture. Mine came out a few weeks ago and have been in and out ever since,I have about 30 tubes in mine and nearly all were occupied.

They do indeed turn around within the tube - the other end is up against the back of the hotel and they seal that up before they start filling the tube Smile

I've just counted the filled tubes and so far I've got 52 long tubes all full up and a load of full short ones too Smile

There's about another 30 tubes available for occupation so they're doing their best to oblige!

Aaaaawh, they are lovely. So glad you managed to save the hotel, and no doubt so are the residents.

The sun is shining today so I'll be off on a long walk this morning and hope I find something worth pointing the camera at!
