Mattamuskeet Lake **

By ardbeg77
Taken at a very still Mattamuskeet lake in North Carolina. This is a shot taken at the same time as this one posted previously. I've gone for a more symmetrical panoramic crop this time, and less level adjustment on the trees to leave them more in silhouette. Any advice as to whether this works better or not is appreciated...

Thanks everyone - should say that the different crop was suggested by Pete (peedeephoto) on my previous shot (although this is actually a different frame). Appreciate all your comments.

Thanks Bill, David.

Yep, David, spot on. My favourite dram, Ardbeg'77 (although i'm not fussy, really Wink). My ambition is to combine both hobbies, with a photographic trip to Islay. I've got the feeling it might result in some wobbly horizons though......

This is a wonderful picture! I love the symmetry of the reflections.

PS I see my suspicions are confirmed - you're a malt man like myself! Mine's Knockandhu by choice, but I'm not too fussy.

Thanks Jim,

I like a drop of Knockandhu too. Variety is definitely the spice as far as malt is concerned. Different mood - different malt! I've been thinking of doing some still life with a few of my bottles - will try it when I get the time.

You were talking about doing some still life with your bottles, Steve - funnily enough I've been planning exactly the same thing!!!

Thanks Gwyn, Chris and Patricia.

As I said above I'm a bit overwhelmed - best response I've had to one of my shots. I was starting to get a bit depsondent about my progress, but as usual you guys managed to buck me up!

Jim - never done any still life before, and I'm continually astounded at the quality on here. Plenty of inspiration. Might wait until the nights draw in a will be a good excuse to buy some (more) whisky with interesting bottle shapes! Will look forward to seeing your shots....

Great shot this - I prefer it to your last one of the same scene. Was this taken during a flood?

ardbeg77 14 1.2k 6 Sao Tome And Principe
23 Jul 2004 8:24AM
Thanks Kevin,

No - they're just a very unusual line of trees. The lake was very shallow quite a way out from the edge. I think these trees were just growing on a raised bank. The shot was taken from a viewing jetty jutting about 20yds out into the lake. The trees are about 3-400yards away.
