Shades of the "Hector, I've just read a sketchy report that this replica of John Cabot's ship, built locally after the visit of the Bristol replica to Bonavista to celebrate the 500th anniversary of Cabot's arrival in Newfoundland, is also in finacial trouble. I'm not sure who it is runs it, if it's the same situation as Pictou whereby a small town was trying to carry too big a burden on its own, anyhow, the report says they've received $100,000 to tide them over, though it's reported they need $750,000. Will try and follow developments and keep you informed.

Meantime, many thanks for your C&C's on the Hector, very much appreciated.

This computer is acting up again tonight, if it doesn't start moving itself a bit faster I'm going to shut down as I haven't the patience to put up with this much longer.
Later Smile Should have threatened it much sooner as it's working OK now, fingers crossed Smile

God morning, Jim,
Like Dawn, I recognised this as yours from the thumbnail. It is a lovely shot of a fascinating looking craft but once again a sad tale to accompany it. It will be interesting to hear what happens.

She looks quite different to the Bristol Ship, I happen to live in Bristol, so get to see her quite a bit, and this weekend we have our Harbour Regatta so she will be giving trips up and down.

Looks like yo must be a ruler of a country to maintain these beautiful ships-- Matthew is wonderful!

As to the leaf-- dunno-- it was an image made in may-- -- I would not be surprised to see fall come upon us a month early this year---dread the winter.

A fine shot of the Matthew replica Jim, she looks just like the one which is moored in Bristol and is used for film sets and special events

Fascinating to see the different colours of wood and workmanship in this interesting replica.

Wonderful ship, we should seriously make an effort to keep there beautiful historic relics ( even though that one is a replica)....looking at a photo is just not the same as seeing the "real" thing up close...being able to touch it...see the workmanship. It's part of world history!

Interesting imagery again from you of these beautiful sailing ships, and yet again another sad tale of soaring costs and a struggle to upkeep, just back from Scotland and will be uploading a few images , was a mix of rain and sun typical Scottish weather Smile

A fabulous looking ship - hope they get the funding to keep it in tip top shape. Hearing the name Cabot brought me back to my school days in Vancouver!
