Meadows Frisky

By DicksPics
Many thanks for all votes, comments and wonderful User Awards for my 'Stitchwort' upload. Your support and encouragement is very much appreciated and valued, as always.SmileSmile

............. and now for something completely different ............ which I hope will be of some interest to you!

The lead image and versions 1 to 6 were taken 3 years ago at the Black Country Living Museum(BCLM) in Dudley. They show a Meadows Frisky Sport, a 4 wheeled mini car.

Versions 7 and 8 were taken, again the BCLM, just over a week ago; V7 shows a Meadows Family Frisky Three and V8 some information about the car.

Meadows Frisky Cars were made at Fallings Park in Wolverhampton between 1958 and 1961.

At the time of their production, as an 8-11 year old, I have no recollection of these vehicles but I do remember 'Bond' cars(also powered by Villiers engines), BMW Isetta 'Bubble' cars and Messerschmitt mini cars.

I hope your weekend is going well.

Enjoyable photos and an interesting commentary. Thanks for showing these, Richard. The blue Frisky was on static display at the BCLM on Wednesday, but I don't recollect any motor vehicles being driven round.

I've known about the Friskies for years but never set eyes on one before. The Isetta/Trojan, Heinkel and Messerschmitt Kabinenroller were common enough but matched in Southampton by Bond Minicars - a friend in the sixth form ran one which always sounded louder than the motorbikes of others!!!

Thanks for the memories.

A beautiful vehicle in the lead image Richard and an excellent and interesting set of photographs. I remember having a Triang 'Spot-on' model of one of these as a child. There were so many interesting vehicles around in the '50s but many of them, like this one, were not a success.

Lovely set Richard. I've only ever seen the Blue one, on display at the BCLM.
Nice to see the other one out on the road. It is a very cute and quirky design.

Takes us back to less sophisticated days when having any car was a great thing.
Love the name Meadows Frisky.

As an 11 - 14 year old, I've never heard of or seen these either, Richard, but do remember bubble cars 😁 Looking at the side view in V3, it looks like a child's toy car! 🚕 A great set Richard and good advert for it 👍

Lovely set of pics and interesting informative commentary, Richard. Never heard of the Frisky; looks a fine wee fun car. Why am I thinking East Germany? Trabbie, most likely(or is it Trabby), that may be bigger, lol. Smile

Frisky indeed with that power output Wink

I'd never heard of these, quirky.
I had heard of the bubble cars and I do remember seeing Bond Bugs around when I was around 10 I guess.

I know the BCLM have vehicle special events when numerous cars run around all day.
