Mechanically minded?

By HobbitDave
Bantams waiting for the sun to come out, on an old farm trailer.

These bantams are one of a kind, last night they went AWOL and were eventually found roosting in a tree, about 15ft up!
Various advice from farmers, the best being on a chicken web forum, to keep a Llama or Alpaca in the garden, as they are guaranteed to see off foxes.......honest 🙂

Fortunately they belong to my next door neighbours, i think they may get the bantams wings clipped so they cant fly up into trees! 🐥

V.1 Taken with flash, shows two up a tree at dusk. I guess they feel safe up there.....

More pics with Angenieux cine lens & adapter.

People are using llamas here for protection on farms - apparently, they can be very fearless in the face of predators. I've watched videos and it is fascinating to see them protecting sheep and other animals.

Great shots, Dave, especially the lead, looks like none of them is speaking to each other! 🐔😁

Love these, such fun. I have always admired Alpacas for their feistiness but didn't realise they had chicken guarding on their CVs.

Really lovely shots, esp. your lead.
(As foxes can't climb trees, surely they are safe up in the branches)

We had hens on our farm in Ireland but I don't remember any birds flying off!
Interesting about clipping the wings - they do the same with bees (think it is the queen who gets clipped?) Now we know the derivation of 'clipping one's wings!'

Two plucking good shots Dave! GrinGrinGrinGrin
My mother used to grow them in Portugal. I still remember the wonderful breakfast she would serve us with fresh eggs... Nice one! Isabel GrinGrin
