Memorabila Of War

By ovi
A series of photographs taken in 2004 trying to portray intimate moments of life...moments of reflection and peace.
My subject Stanley Howell was a member of the Desert Rats Regiment-Norfolk who fought in North Africa and also on other battlefields across Europe (France and Italy) during the Second World War.
I had the priviledge to spent a precious amount of time around Stanley trying to understand more about those terrible days of horror and in the end I realised that life and love are the most precious gifts we ever were given.
Stanley died about two years after I took these pictures leaving behind him the memory of a special human being constantly preocupied for helping the others and preserving life in all its aspects...a name-Stanley Howell, a trustfull commarade, a loving husband and father.

Good bye Stanley!

Absolutely great, a photo that needs no explanation to tell a story - extremely well done!
