Memories of Deal

By dandeakin
#17/21

“Deal’s always been a contraband town. Ship’s cargo was always being washed ashore back then when the boats got torpedoed. People used to go down each morning and see what had come ashore. They weren’t supposed to but the authorities turned a blind eye. Obviously it depended on what sort of product washed ashore but it kept a lot of people going over those months.”
