Memories of Kitty

By MentorRon
Just thought I'd post this photo of our Kitty, taken May 24, 2014 soon after we first met.
He was originally my stepson's neighbour's garage cat, but became my soulmate over
these last five years.
Sadly he had to be euthanised Dec 31 at 1:20 PM.
He had hidden his pain admirably until the absolute last.
Enlarged heart, failing kidneys, and possibly cancer.
The 24 hour emergency hospital removed 350 ml of fluid from his chest cavity
which had been making him pant trying to get air as it compressed his lungs.
We thought he had just been chased by a dog or scared by a raccoon, but
the panting came back the following day.
Couldn't hold him when he passed as he was in an oxygen cart.

We have received our old cat's ashes from the animal hospital, which we have had placed in a cedar box with his name engraved on the cover.
Will place the above photo in a small brass picture frame above it as we did for our old dog Muggins who was a miniature Yorkie.
On the 15th we will bring our next "furball" home from a nearby shelter after seeing MANY cats at 2 shelters.
He was given the name Wilbur by the shelter: they pick unique names for every animal. They are guessing he is about 2 years old.
He is a grey and black tabbie.
