Memory Lane

By Sue_R
Another photo from my hometown of Salisbury in Wilthshire. This time a shot taken at Queen Elizabeth Gardens, where I used to play as a kid. Really enjoyed my trip down memory lane Smile

Feeling really guilty now though because I should know what this river is called, but I just can't remember. I know the five rivers are the Avon, the Nadder, the Ebble, the Wylye and the Bourne, but I can't even tell from the map which one I'm looking at here. Hopefully someone on here will be able to help me with this.

Thanks for your votes and comments on my photo of Salisbury Cathedral and hope you all have a super weekend Smile

Memory Lane looks a bit flooded Sue, and I wish I could help with the name of the River, but I have trouble remembering my own name these Days Smile
Looks a really lovely spot though, and a very nicely composed shot.
Have a lovely Weekend.

Sounds like you need some help Sue, I forget things myself all the time. I found this image from Salisbury and here's a map link too. Looks like the Avon to me LOOK HERE,

Tut, tut, Sue, fancy not knowing the name of the river! Wink I do believe it's as said above, the Avon Smile Anyway, it's a very beautiful landscape capture, and other than missing the horse and cart in the foreground, it's very similar to the 'Haywain' by John Constable (I know, 'cos it's hung on my living room wall and in front of me - not the original, of course!) Smile More please! Wink

All I know is it is one of those you named, Sue. Whatever the name of the river, 'tis a cracking composition.

Thanks all for your votes and comments and a special thanks to those of you who have helped with identifying the river.

I thought the stretch I was looking at in this image was the Avon too (I even named the shot River Avon in Lightroon, but was sure someone would tell me I was wrong if I uploaded it on here with that name. Trouble is two rivers join here and I couldn't tell from the map which one continued on after this point.

Beautiful landscape, I've fished the Avon many years ago and this is a perfect reminder Sue. Ron.

A lovely riverside scene Sue, I didn't know the Avon went through Salisbury, you learn something new on here every day. I too have fished the Avon at Tewkesbury in Gloucestershire.
