Merging Worlds

By Philip_H
Happy Hallowe’en/Samhain.

The ‘Wheel of the Year’ is seen by many Pagans to begin at Samhain (pronounced 'Sow-in') - a Gaelic word meaning 'end of the summer'.

Samhain has been celebrated in Britain for centuries and has its origin in Pagan Celtic traditions. Samhain is a festival of the dead, when people remember those who have gone before and acknowledge that the cycle of life and death is part of a sacred whole. It is not a time of fear, but it is a time when the veils between this world and the Otherworld are believed to be at their thinnest: when the spirits of the dead can most readily mingle with the living once again. Samhain is also celebrated by non-Pagans who call this festival Hallowe’en or All Hallows' Eve (which is followed by All Hallow’s Day (also known as Hallowmas or All Saints Day).

Thanks for all the C&Cs on 'Adoro Te Devote' - I'm off to light some soul candles now.

Have a good evening,
Philip

Nicely done. Very well selected. I like the green tone in this image. Spooky, makes the skin 'crawl' a bit! TongueGrin but thats what it's all about - an image like this should make for a reaction!
