Metzgerei Wildermann

By TrevBatWCC
Well, another year older today! Sad Not saying how old, but a bit nearer 70 now than 60 Wink And a sunny day it is too! Smile
Taken a bit higher up the same street of Untere Schmiedgasse in Rothenburg, Metzgerei Wildermann is a food shop, mainly selling sausages. As well as Rothenburg having quaint buildings, it's not unlike Salzburg or Innsbruck in Austria with its very ornate signs outside shops, cafes and hotels. V2 is looking up the street, with Metzgerei Wildermann's on the left.
I'd like to thank very much Lillian King and Richard Shuttleworth (DicksPics) for their User Awards on my previous upload Smile

Single Raw images processed in Adobe Camera Raw 7, tweaked in Photomatix Pro 4 and Photoshop Elements 11.

Thanks again to everyone for your votes & comments on my previous uploads, it really is appreciated and encouraging.

Many happy returns, Trev: hope you have a lovely day.
And two very different shots, V 1 showing an intimate detail, whilst V 2 shows the wider street scene with it's old buildings and great variety of signage.
Like both equally so it's a half vote to each.

Ornate indeed, I appreciate the artistry in this sign, Trev, and like the way you have most of it against the sky. The sign suggests a butcher's shop rather than sausages, but also portrays prestige and quality goods.

Hope you have had a great day, Trev; sorry I'm so late on the scene!
Metzger is a butcher (but not the slaughterer) - the axes are for cutting the meat on the slab and the bull represents that meat on the hoof. I have seen a great many elaborate shop signs in Germany but this one just about beats them all. You have done a superb job with the shape and colours.

Many many Happy Returns for today Trev.

A fine pair of interesting and well captured images. The beautifully ornate and rather grand looking sign is surely a sign of the quality of the trader's wares. Whilst back in the UK, we get mass produced plastic or vinyl signs filled with energy sapping coloured bulbs which inevitably go pop resulting in some rather amusing sights.

Belated congratulations/commiserations Trev. (I'll leave you to delete the one that doesn't applyTongue)
I love these signs, streets better than a boring old red neon Tesco or M&S sign. The fact that they describe what the shop sells, thus dispelling the need for a written description appeals to me.

It does look as if someone has thrown a scarf at the sign, though.

Like the processing - looks like out of a Grimm's fairy-tale book. (v2)
