Microlandscape #3 Lily Pads on Long Pond

By handlerstudio
I love shooting in the rain......color saturation cannot be beat, and the softness of contrast and color I find very appealing. These lily pads were photographed off a dock at the home of friends on Northern Neck Road on Long Pond on Mt. Desert Island, Maine.

You have no subject, and that is the main problem here. I would clone out the dark stems bottom and part way up, but one Lilly flower, suitably placed, just one, could transform this.

Exactly as Paul states, no focal point and the twiglets to the bottom do distract.

With a painterly effect, Peter, this would be just like a Monet.
I like the subtle tones, but have to agree, there needs to be something to focus the eye upon. A passing duck would have been perfect. Having found this, I would be treating it as a potential background, and would then be looking for a subject to place in it.

Its underexposed. When this is corrected, and its sharpened, you can really see the rain drops. Then it can be used with some filters to give a painted look. The mod Ive uploaded has the oil paint effect applied to the brightened, sharpened and cropped shot.
