So to get butterflies one must have milkweed? No I don't want milkweed. Or dandelions close by.

HI Sandy,Mathis is for the caterpillars.....and for eastern monarchs....any on the west coast do not go through this migration.

Our field seems to grow a variety of milkweeds-- some with these huge pods, etc. Others are more dainty and colorful!

In my childhood I thought the milkweed flowers were some of the most beautiful I had ever seen---- Tiny delicate pink----
