MILL REFLECTIONS

By Diana
I am writing a picture story about this Mill so I am uploading some of the images I would like to be used within the story for feedback.

Trouble is the images have to in B&W and I have lost the SAIL detail in the conversion. Please see B & W behind this one. I am not after a preference on variation, just overall composition and any suggestions in how to modify to get a stronger B&W image

Oh what the heck, I am grateful for all feedback of any nature really

and thanks for all the comments on my made up studio images, very pleased thanks all

Dianna

this is a good one, may be if the horizan was 2/3's up or down on the picture.

Gareth, thanks and a good point, but felt I would have lost the reflections in the pond which I thought were quite a strong aspect of this composition

Beautifully composed image with wonderful colours. A pity it has to be converted to B&W Wink

Nice shot of the mill I think I would add some contrast to bring that sky back this might help bring those sails into veiw, well done.

If you're trying to keep the reflection, then version 2 is better for that as the whole windmill is included in the water. However, if you let the reflections go and crop right below the grasses in version 1, I also think you have a very strong image. It is a shame it has to be in B&W - I really like the color version here.

Excellent shot Dianna, the mods are an improvement but,if you darken the highlights it will darken the sky as that is the predominate highlight, hope this helps?

thanks for the other mod Mark (MDaniel), I like that the Mill is B&W but you seem to have retained colour in the vegetation and pond below, how smart is that? . (I have given my weekly award to my fave image of yours BTW) Smile

PLUS I am always touched by the wamth and gernerosity that is shared on this site so thanks all.

Hiya Dianna, after looking at the individual channels, I think the red channel offers you the best option for fine tuning.

Hi, yes thanks all
* Proz, I think you are right, just depends on how much the uni are prepared to shell out on printing, may just have to be plain old B & W. we'll see

thanks all for the ideas and support
