Mill styal

By Birdseye
This was taken at the weekend when I visited Styal Mill just south of Manchester. This intruiging site is important in terms of world industrial heritage and the industrial revolution. The mill set new standards in mechanisation and automation in cotton based production, and also in terms of the community that it facilitated around the mill.

Now owned by the National Trust, (it is well worth a visit), – the mill is fascinating (no photography inside but you can obtain a CD of views) and the grounds which are really pleasant and provide superb photographic potential (of which I have yet to capture!!)

Unfortunately, I missed the Rhododendrons' peak (there’s a huge variety and more than 5 rare types at Styal Mill) but the sky and landscape were still tremendous.

. . . . The cloud appeared to mystically associate itself to the chimney on this view.
