That's so much better. Decent tonal range and a fine link within the frame of both images. More of these and less of the strange treatment for me. Very nice.

I have fond memories of these guys, they appeared in your portfolio several times I think.

They remind me a lot of the Monty Python crew. Only quibble, regarding both versions - I wish they weren't so tightly cropped on the right side. Cut-off hands always look awkward and unsatisfactory.

See? So much better without the OTT processing.

I've only recently got into the whole HDR processing thing (well, learning to recognise it at least, instead of wondering what the hell someone's done to their image!) And although I think it works in some instances, looking at your portfolio I totally agree with the comments above. You've got such a wonderful eye for a photo that you do yourself a disservice by using HDR tone mapping on a lot of your black and white stuff. Yes, there's times when it adds something, but so much of your imagery just doesn't need it - it's beautiful just the way it is (well, with the 'usual' kind of post processing adjustments that we all do).

Two well captured and processed images.
No suggested improvements as they are both good, except perhaps cropping the chin from the top right corner of V2, once noticed it bugs me.
many thanks for crits and comments

Hi,
the croppings are a bit here and there although i suspect you had to crop to lose distractions and i fully understand that issue, we all have to contend with that. however, i have to say i love both images and cannot decide between them and think they are among the best ive seen you post.
the subject is riveting, the light excellent , the expressions priceless and the diagonals make them come to life.

well seen and well converted, some nice range of tones in these.
regards
Phil
