Miniature garden

By zigga
A little while ago I had a go at tilt and shift just to see how I got on and this is the result.

I didn't have a T&S lens so this was altered in Photoshop. Not sure how effective the edit has been??

It does work well. In CS6, the blur tool has a tilt/shift effect option to make this a lot easier.

Well done,

I think it's very effective, Michael.
The test is, "does it look like a model garden?" and my first impression was that it does.
The only thing that spoils the illusion for me is the blurred figures at the bottom, so I have done a modification with them removed to see what you think.
My second modification has the little bush bottom right removed as well.

This works pretty well.
I've done quite a few of these (although I've yet to try the CS6 method Willie) and this one has the right ingredients.
They work best if the shot is taken, looking down on the subject, as here and better still, I think, if the strip that's in focus is quite busy. Road junctions make good subjects, or building sites.
In this instance, Pamela's removal of the people in the foreground has helped. You'd have been better off, had you been able to arrange it, to have a car or a building in there. Something recognisable but secondary to the main feature of the shot.
Producing these can be quite good fun but it can also become very, very frustrating!

It is interesting without a doubt, but it just looks very strange to me. It works because it makes you look. Could I live with it?
