Mink I Think!

By KarenFB
The first time I've been for a walk in ages, I decided to visit the big pond. As I got close I disturbed a Buzzard, kicking myself for missing it I crept closer, hoping it had landed nearby. As I glanced down at the top pond (where all the streams enter and allow the sediment to settle), I noticed a movement in the overflow pipe.

Settling myself against a tree I was surprised when this little Mink peered out!! In the versions you can see him getting braver and braver, eventually running off (the last version is a 'binner' really, but I wanted to keep it as a 'record' shot). Smile

He ran off to the other end of the big pond, although I waited ages, he didn't re-appear. After a while I wandered down and stepped onto the pier to clear debris away from the overflows................he hissed at me!! There he was, under the pier!

I wandered off and hid, but he obviously wasn't coming out any time soon! (Sigh, I was promised a hide over a year ago!)

I like V3, he looks like a furry snake.

I name him Mr Minkerton.

An excellent set of opportunistic captures, most impressive considering they were taken with a compact camera.
