Miss Willmott's Ghost

By flowerpower59
Many thanks to those who commented, voted and awarded my last upload. I am grateful.

This is one (another Smile) of my favourite plants. It's an eryngium (sea holly) looking good in the garden right now, though this is a slightly faded stem from last year. The story goes that Miss Willmott (a notable gardener in the 1800s and contemporary of Gertrude Jekyll) carried the seeds of this biennial plant in her pocket and would secretly scatter them in other people's gardens, hence the common name.

It self seeds quite readily and I have learned to pull up the ones closest to the path because they can ***** your legs as you walk past Grin

Yet another beautiful plant portrait that deserves an award. I've never heard of this one but it's a beauty.

This is really lovely, and a very interesting narrative to read as well.

This is really beautiful, the BG really suits the subject. A very pleasing floral image and an interesting narrative.
I will return with my award tomorrow.
