Modern Youth

By RobinH
I think this may be an internet hot spot but the image just made me laugh, the fact that there are five lads and five female mannequins looking on. Pity about the trees.
I did another shot from the right but not showing they had a phone spoilt the story of the picture.

Three thoughts.

Moving to the right (after taking this shot: always get something in the bag before searching for perfection!) would have given you a clear line of sight to the mannequins between the two trees.

This is slightly tilted... Where there are such geometric lines in things, either treat them with care and respect, or really mess with them is my motto, and seems to work for a lot of people.

And... Beautiful observation. Looks to be four young lads, and one owd codger (as we say in Staffordshire).

Very nice, well observed. I moved you a bit in the mod. You were standing to the side, so you get the angled lines.

I wonder why the shop sign is backwards?

I think the shop signs (there's a faint one to hte right of the tree) are reflections in the window.

When mobile phones first appeared it was obvious that they were God's gift to street photography, people close themselves off and concentrate on their own little worlds so surreally.

In principle a great opportunity here, but difficult to manage in practice because of those very inconsiderately placed trees... Really, planners just don't think about photographers' needs, do they?

I definitely want more mannequin less human presence here. I like both the crops, I would be inclined to go in even tighter.

John suggests moving to the right, I might try moving left here, for a clear view of the mannequins with maybe just a couple of figures in the foreground (though having five all doing the same is hilarious... )

I suspect that you could get a few angles here without anyone spotting you, and that there will be much the same scene next time you visit.

Anyway I shall have a play with crops, see if I can come up with anythingnew.

Thank you guys for looking and taking the time to comment, some good ideas, I am not too keen on the crops as I thought the two lots of 5 was part of the story, should have had a few more goes while there as you mention, to get shots of different groups, they were there for ages in their own world.
I did do another from the right but the phones went out of view and spoilt the effect, it will be a place to try again thats for sure.
Thanks again.
