Molly Malone

By gingerdelight
In Dublin's Fair City
Where the girls are so pretty
I first set my eyes on sweet Molly Malone
As she wheel'd her wheel barrow
Through streets broad and narrow
Crying cockles and mussels alive, alive o!

Alive, alive o!, alive, alive o!
Crying cockles and mussels alive, alive o!

She was a fishmonger
But sure 'twas no wonder
For so were her father and mother before
And they each wheel'd their barrow
Through streets broad and narrow
Crying cockles and mussels alive, alive o!

Alive, alive o!, alive, alive o!
Crying cockles and mussels alive, alive o!

She died of a fever
And no one could save her
And that was the end of sweet Molly Malone
But her ghost wheels her barrow
Through streets broad and narrow
Crying cockles and mussels alive, alive o!

Alive, alive o!, alive, alive o!
Crying cockles and mussels alive, alive o!

The statue of Molly Malone in Dublin - texture added for effect.

I am so pleased you enjoyed my last upload, I'm sure the meerkat has gotten over the shock of having a butterfly on his nose by now Wink

I have a feeling Carol the guys would be all volunteering to save their wifes queing up at Molly's barrow.
She is using the oldest saleswomen technique in the book here.
Love her big baskets !!
Good shot.

Thanks Kate, but the building and trees were actually in the shot originally, all I did was take it at a reasonable angle and then added some texture in processing!

Pleased to have been allowed to give the 30th! Strangely I was thinking about this song just the other day - my Grandmother used to sing it to me when I was very young. When you think about the words, hardly an ideal lullaby!

Known by the locals as "The tart with the cart"! Grin

She's a bit central here and could maybe have been moved to the right; a bit of a shadow would help anchor her, too. But the background works well and everything fits together nicely.
