Monet & Friends I

By saltireblue
Mrs. Salty and I went to our first cultural event since July last year. Coincidentally, the location was the same as the last one we were at that time. Then it was a 500 year anniversary of Leonardo da Vinci. This time it was a digital presentation of the French Impressionist painters, Monet, Cézanne, Renoir, Dega and Pissaro.

It felt strange to be mingling (socially distanced) among strangers again, and we were both very aware of keeping one eye on what others were doing. There were a few people who did not deem it necessary to use face masks...

As with Da Vinci, I was more interested in the public than the exhibition itself, although I did give it all my attention after I had satisfied the photographer in me...

This is the first of a series from the exhibition. I hope you like some of them.

Many thanks to all who contributed to my previous effort, 2 weeks ago.
Thanks for bothering.
Malc

No arguments please, we're Monet's. Those ladies look formidable at twice life-size and even more formidable in high-contrast black & white; quite gargantuan in fact.

Have a gong for being brave and standing up to them Wink

Oh wow. Simply, oh wow...
People interacting with art, becoming a part of it. That's what the best exhibitions achieve...
I'm envious, in a way. The occasions when we have mixed in any way with other people I find myself watching them, measuring distances. We are suddenly noticing things like the height of ceilings, open or closed windows... This is a new normality.

Impressionism meets Saltivision. That’s different. Deserves an award for sheer bottle.

Some wonderful artist's listed here, Malc' and a great shot which incorporates the human element perfectly.
Well done that man.

A fine almost abstract mono, well framed and captured, Malc 👍
After months of going uptown and hardly seeing a soul around, it does indeed seem strange being amongst so many people!

I like the high contrast treatment you have applied. It suits the subject and also gives it a touch of mystery, with ghostly figures jumping out at you! I think we have all got out of the art of mingling in crowds now, and tend to still keep dodging people.

I'm with Jason, needs printing Mr. Salty !!
Wonderfully interesting and different image, with the black silhouettes becoming part of the slide show..
And it's fantastic how paintings appreciated for the way the colour is used work well in black & white..
My award!
