Mongoose & bacon

Another inhabitant of !xaus lodge.

As the buildings are on top of a sand dune overlooking a salt pan the local population of Yellow Mongoose are encouraged to stay round the lodge, keeping it free of snakes & scorpions.

This Mongoose has a penchant for bacon, so sat up and begged when he detected some on my plate. Who could resist?

Not only Guinea fowl & Mongoose but also a small Genet around the lodge - unfortunately too shy to be photographed.

Amazing place to stay.

The most of these I've seen together was at the Half Moon Hotel in Jamaica.
Ran around in big groups.
Not sure they were the Yellow type though.
