Mono Reeds

By digicammad
Reeds reflected in the canal at sunrise. Cropped, then converted to mono in channel mixer. A little high pass sharpening to compensate for the resize.

Trying something a little different.

Thought I was looking at an upsidedown image at first. Lovely sharpness about this.

Nicely seen. A little ripple in the water just to give a bit of movement would also have been interesting.

Very nice reflections Ian. B&W work well here.
Well spotted.

Thanks for the comments. AKH I like your mod, the thicker border works well in this case, thanks for the idea.

Thanks Luke and John.

Unfortunately not John, the reeds were backed by a bank and don't show up except as vague shadows in the black.

+ve: Detail and treatment's great

-ve: Agree with Tony re. ripple. It's such a good reflection that it might as well be rotated 180!

Thanks for the comments and mod's.

Mark, trouble is, if I rotate it will it just be ordinary?

Yeah, sorry Ian, that's what I meant - hence needing something like the ripple to set it apart and make it obvious it isn't a 'normal' shot rotated! (Not sure that even I understand what I've just written - hope you do!)

Like it but a ripple would add to it as already said.
