Monument Valley

By Gavin_Duxbury
Monument valley from the air.

I took a light aircraft flight over Monument Valley the iconic outdoor film set of the Western Films.

The tower rock formations are buttes, and the long flat top ones are called Macers I think it means tabletop. The weather was overcast and showery which rocked the aircraft a few times.

Nice shot of the left Mitten from the air and well worth a visit. The wife and I were there in 2008 and had a Navajo Indian guide.
The weather was dry but the winds were strong and we got covered in red dust.

Sometimes Gavin we have to make do with what we are given. I think you have done a great job with this.

Hope you like the mod. A little levels and brought out some of that detail. Added a little edge darkening to focus the eye.

Mesas are the table-tops.

Its probably a rare shot to get with the bad weather.
