Authorities are divided on the helpfulness of alcohol when shooting.

Generally, feeding it to models (as I know you didn't here - the glass is jsut a prop) is thought to be bad, as it can lead to flushed compexions and inappropriate behavour.

On the other hand, the late Bob Carlos Clarke recounts, in his book 'Shooting Sex' that a good long and louche liquid lunch can have positive effects in loosening things up. (Both he and the models had been contracted to shoot the 'dirtiest poster campaign ever' - the ad agency and the fashion company involved both chickened out i nthe end.) Which is why the rest of us don't do it!

As for photographers drinking - I have memories of an evening out with my old boss, who I really wanted to make a portrait of. We usually met for several pints in the pub every two or three months. It wasn't until I'd had a couple that I dared ask him if I might take a few pictures - by which time my ability to focus my non-AF camera was a touch impaired...

Yes it's just a prop but I'm not so keen on photos that just say 'Look how pretty I am'? I like a model to actually look as though she's doing something and this glass was handy.
