Superb shot either way.
Hard to suggest a lot without trying something and looking at it.
I took the original colour ans tweaked that a little. For something to so, I cropped a little off bot right, and the bottom. I would not take a lot off the right as that hilltop with the trees is attractive.
Mod2 is a high contrast version of this that doesnt look a whole lot different from yours.
I will play with some radical crops and see what pops up.

Willie

As Wilie says, this is superb work. The textures in V1 have a graphic quality, almost like an etching. I love that.
Crops? Well maybe a small crop on the right, to end the dark diagonal slope at the point where it flattens out for a short distance. But keep the bottom of the frame, it provides a firm, stable baseline.
My only quibble really is with the sky in V1 which seems to compete for attention with the land. I prefer the slightly paler, softer sky in Willie's second modification.

Ah, it is such a pleasure to submit something to the Critique Team! Willie, I think your color mod is gorgeous. It reminds me of the paintings of the American West by painters from the 19th Century Hudson River School. If you ever give a class on color processing, let me know, I'll sign up! Mile, thanks much for your mod as well - on balance, I prefer Willie's warmer, richer tones for this scene. Moira, thanks for the inputs on the crop. I went back and forth about the right. I also tried some off the bottom, but agree with you that the image needs a base. Thanks for confirming that. I rather like the darker sky, versus Willie's B&W, but do see why you like it lighter. Paul, I've tried a bit of a dodge lower right. I agree it looks better. If you haven't seen this video on dodging and burning using 50% grey layers in PS, give it a look. I recently discovered it and it has helped me. Once again, thanks to all...
Cheers,
Matt
