Mostly Polished

Civilian footwear on display at Prudhoe's Remembrance Day parade last year. Many local organisations from scouts and guides to veterans' associations give year-long active support to the British Legion, join in the annual parade and lay wreaths at our war memorial, which takes the form of a lych gate entrance to the parish church.

Thanks to everyone who supported Boots, Boots, Boots (1) yesterday it was much appreciated.

Showing the military wallahs how it should be done...
Spit and polish, and a warmed up teaspoon, using the back side to work the polish into the leather...
I was put on evening duties for a week at police college for not having my parade boots polished to the satisfaction of the drill sergeant, who was an ex-RSM!

Takes me back to living at home and my brother - also in the police used Malc's method! They did an awful lot of drill at police college back in the day! I can still smell that warm polish - happy days!

Memories great picture - takes me back when I was serving boots had to gleam with a mirror like shine. Often heard the young recruits being told to go to the stores and get a packet of bulling rings??
