Hello, Phill. I don't know how much your comment is tongue-in-cheek. You have certainly caught her unaware, but very natural at the same time, with her tousled hair and open mouth. You ask about your modification, and I would say it's a bit too dark. Elderly people have lots of wrinkles and blemishes, and if you were setting her up for a photo shoot, it would be advisable to use natural lighting from a window, which is more gentle than flash on the skin. Your mod seems to enhance the flaws. I have tried a modification where I adjusted levels to give a bit more contrast, and then I very lightly softened her skin and sharpened her eyes, finishing with a tighter crop.
