Looks like either the designers or the engineers have fouled up (polite version of what I was thinking). The air-bag is meant to be on the inside of the vehicle, isn't it?

I nearly made reference to that in my description Malc. Indeed, I recall a documentary I saw a while back on the development of autimotive safety features and one such idea was to have an airbag operaating as you imagine above. Don't you miss the man with the red flag
