Mourning Cloak

By taggart
Mourning Cloak
Nymphalis antiopa 21/2--3!/2 inches

We rarely see the Mourning Cloak butterfly except in the very early spring. This one was feeding on the early to bloom Dawn Viburnum. The butterfly is ragged and a bit faded but I was very excited to have this image. I have seen several but this is my first capture!

I am glad. you all enjoyed the Leucojum! Thank You for your interest!

Whoa! In UK this is a Camberwell Beauty, Jenn, probably the rarest British butterfly. Superb pic 🏆
