There's an intensity about this I really like. The treatment, although on the side of extreme, is complementary to the model and his pose, expression and the attitude he oozes.
A GEA is in order, methinks.

I remember the deeply sinister blond eyebrows. I do think the simpler, less contrived portraits were stronger.

He's not holding back - other, perhaps, than an avalanche of emotion and anger. Intense, and wonderful.

yes, I have different photos of him, all a bit in a different style/mood. Personally I prefer the color version of this one, but as I tried this b&w conversion just recently, I thought I give it a go

Thanks for coming back to it Malc, and for the GEA. I think Martin's (the model) intensity and anger was directed at Tom and I (I photographed him with Tom Hoops), for asking him to pose with a lighted cigarette (he's a non smoker). I know... it was wrong on so many levels Blush

As often, the result of a mistake of mine Ollie. I basically had my lens standard on f/2.8 in those days. Thanks Smile

it simply is a good portrait.
like the toning, the background ads tons of value to the overall look and feel.
