Mr Jellinek's Daughter

By pablophotographer
was named Mercedes. The car manufacturer is named after her.
That's the only picture I have from her, as we are not family.

A fine monochrome photograph, carefully and artistically cropped.

There is a historical misunderstanding in your title: Karl Benz had three daughters called Ellen, Thilde and Clara. His company was not amalgamated with Daimler, to become Daimler-Benz, until 1926.

Mercédès was the daughter of Emil Jellinek. Jellinek was the board member of the Daimler Motoren-Gesellschaft who specified the engine to be used for the first 'modern' car, the 35 hp designed by Wilhelm Maybach and Paul Daimler,on condition that the car be named after his daughter. It was a sound economic decision because previous Daimler cars were not popular in France, the biggest market in the world in 1901, because of the Germanness of the name.

Thank you for your comment Bill and the historical clarification. I shall correct the title.
The picture is not cropped but it was framed exactly like that.
It might be a bit on the bright side but I wanted to record the x-cross detail behind the star;
the darker oblong picture was erased and I don't bother to retrieve it.
The picture was shot in black and white on camera.

My kinda image here.
A small detail well picked out.

I wonder if they had a ''Dalai Lama Mobile'' !!
