We can see the swirl and surge of the movement without seeing the individual birds - that's interesting. They really are like a cloud.
Have you come across rontear's starling shots? You might find them interesting.

It's an amazing sight, Danny, and an amazing sound too. This is very impressionist, and an impression is what one gets: perfectly captured. I just wish the blighters would keep away from the bird feeders in our garden.

Nice one....used to see this ( slightly less birds) every evening around Birmingham...amazing sight.
As an image I would have liked to see the bottom of the tree...slight niggle only.

p.s.Murmuration...should be

I sat for ages with a large group of other hopefuls the other day and our starlings just dropped out of the sky and straight into the reed bad. Noisy but not too spectacular. You were certainly luckier than I... Dave

I will bet you 2 quid Danny there is not 20,000 there !!
In fact I reckon you are chancing your arm here.I reckon it is your thumb print.I can soon find out.My brother in law is a policeman and he has confirmed all my prints are in their collection !!
OK then,I will take your word for it.At least I can say I have seen 20,000 birds today !!
Fantastic capture.
