Muscari "Grape Ice"

By Squirrel
Something new from the nurseries. The humble grape hyacinth has gone funky. Instead of the usual blues this new cultivated variety has very striking purple flower heads with a white top. The leaves are much broader than the usual Muscari and they are much taller about 10 inches.

Happy in a fertile well drained border or rock garden. They can also be planted into grass to naturalise. I'll give them a go in my garden. I'm on chalk so it will be interesting to see if they survive.

Photographed them against a grey background then cut them out. Slipped a new layer beneath and put a blue and purple radial gradient in.

I'm not keen on this new variety, but I do like your presentation and background.
