My first this year

By gary_d
This is my first butterfly shot this year, it was taken at 9 oclock this evening after a five hour walk with Patch, the light was very poor so I used my macro ring flash.

Thanks for looking.

A very big thank you to Robert (RTDS) for the UA on my last image.

Regards. - gary

A five hour walk? What a lucky dog Patch is!
Super detail here, Gary, and the black background sets it off beautifully.

Stunning image Gary. So can you explain a little about your ring flash?
Is that an attachment?
You've achieved a great image with poor light.

your ring flash worked really well, I thought it was nice beam of sunlight!

Ring-flash has done for it Gary, the focus is spot on as is the DOF/POV, but the flash has over exposed most of the whites and it all looks too harsh mate.......I tell it as I see it.Grin......Get that tripod out!!!

You are right what you say Ade but with out it I would have had no shot at all in the bad light so thought it was still worth showing, I appreciate your honesty my friend.

The flash at that time of day has captured the detail so well and set the subject against the very dark/black b/g, showing it off without surrounding visual distractions.
Lovely Gary, fantastic detail Smile

You'll get into big trouble one of these days if you continue to go out flashing in public!WinkGrin A smashing close up of this green veined white taken in poor light. Can you repeat this Gary or was it just a flash in the pan?!Tongue Patch must be the fittest dog in the UK the amount of exercise he gets!Smile
