My Garden Giant

By pamelajean
(Not an abstract, but my monthly flower photo).

A lovely light pink Hollyhock from my garden last year.
Stately towers of showy funnel-shaped flowers are borne on a tall erect stem.
The flower stalks on hollyhocks can reach heights of 9 feet tall.
They tower up over the roof of my bungalow.
Their disc-shaped seed case is divided into over 15 sections and is known as a schizocarp. I save the seeds and sow them the following year.

I appreciate the interest and response to my last photo of Doodle Ducks.

Pamela.

It looks a magnificent plant and with its own seeds to keep renewing each season. Now that appeals to Scottish gardener. Very well captured with great tones and good neutral background.

You have photographed these blooms in the right light to bring out the textures of the petals so well Pamela. A beautiful background too that matches the colours of the petals.

I keep meaning to get some seeds for these. I was just at a nursery too. Sometimes I wonder where my head is. Took my camera though.

So beautifully taken it is hard to know if the background was natural or a texture added?
Perfect colour fusion.

The background was added, Kate, but it's good to know that you felt it looked natural.
