My Own Private Mauerweg (7)

By GwailoAngMo
After meandering a bit, we arrived at a vast open space in 1990. This is now replaced by an artificial pond and in front of that a sunken garden. This former Luisenstädtischer Kanal has changed a bit over the years and part is now a sunken garden.

The church is the 19th century Sankt-Michael-Kirche. This area was damaged by heaving bombing in 1945, but the church, which sat in East Berlin, was partially rebuilt.

Lovely juxtaposition of old and new. In the colour version modern graffiti against the brickwork, to my eye, echoes in the restored patterns on the church. Maybe I am looking too deep but if you are going to comment then you should look properly, IMHO.

I like the colour version in this one.
