My Own Private Mauerweg (9)

This building stood aloof and alone set back from Bethaniendamm. Since I took the photo a building has been built up against the road, hiding it from view. Its visible isolation appealed to my quirky mind.

As we walked along Bethaniendamm in 1990 taking in the sights along the route of the wall a couple of Russians in military uniform appeared from nowhere, or so it seemed. We later admitted to each other we were scared at that moment. For over thirty years we had been told how evil communists were. Though we might not have been told they ate newborn children we were scared enough to believe it. I can laugh about it now, but then …

Hello out there in weird country, did you ever see the Roger Waters Live in Berlin concert? shortly after the concrete monolith was toppled, an amazing film of people coming together to enjoy music, friendship, dope, and hopefully a new beginning.
