MY PRIDE AND JOY

Thank you so much for your support of my previous image 'SIX FEET OF SEPERATION'

I am just so excited, you can tell the lockdown has got to me, I couldn't wait to upload these, and can't wait for it to fully bloom. I purchased this Calla Lilly, which of course isn't a true lilly but I don't care, late last year looking worse for wear and it was cheap. I'm from Yorkshire, what can I say Grin Anyway, I thought I had killed it and decided to use the pot for another plant only to discover some shoots on the what do ya ma call it that it grows from. So I went to the University of YouTube and discovered that these plants go into domancy. I over wintered it as instructed and tentatively split it into three plants, re potted and prayed a lot, expecting very little.

So the shoots started to appear and lots of gynormous leaves, much larger than the original plant. I really didn't expect any flowers this year, so imagine my delight when I got up one morning a found a tiny little bud, of a very strange colour, The original flowers were a very pale pink, more white than pink, the pink was more around the edges of the bloom and the base. Hence I assumed my tiny little bud would lighten, but no. So I am guessing Grand Ma Ma was originally this purple colour while Grand Pa Pa was not listed on the birth certificate.

I only have the one flower from these three plants that were originally one, but I am so impressed with myself; it will be interesting to see if the other two flower and more importantly, what colour they will be.

Nature holds some lovely surprises for us. Sometimes I find that untended flowers do better than my molly-coddled lot, but your tlc proved worthwhile. A gorgeous deep colour (it somehow looks knittedSmileSmile).
