Hi all.

I have returned to this spot a million times (slight exageration there perhaps), but can't get this right, you can tell how badly I have failed, because this is the best of the bunch! I know that their has been a thread about using PS to fix bad photos, however, I have tried to tweak the settings in PS, but just can't get it right. PLEASE tell me how to improve this image.

Thank you for taking the time on commenting on my last uploads, as i find your feed back really encouraging.

...being there at the right time will improve it no end.

As i stands now, inputting a levels value of 0,0.79,175 will lift the whites and neutrals

I'm not very good at doing mods, but have tried.
Hope you thnk it's OK.
I much prefer to get the composition right before I click the button , but sometimes we just have to get what we can.
As Keith said, the right time makes a difference.

Paul's suggested you try this - -

Has to be in CS1 or above:

Image > Adjustments > Shadow/Highlight and put 15% [or there about in shadow field]

Give it a go Smile

The main problem I think is light, it is a little harsh in places and hard to alter. I have submitted a modification which I hope you like. It is a nice image though. I think we all have a picture that we can never get just how we want.

On the little i know Stephen i think id highlight the trees and background a little to lose some of the darkness
I'd have to play with it for a bit but if something comes up I'll let e know. Clive

I like the somber darkness in this, this is what makes the scene that interesting. If ever modified anything, than Fred's one would suit me best.

Looks like a great subject to stick with, I don't like to do critiques, but I think I would listen to Keith and the others about light,

Not sure what your settings were on this photo. Would be interesting too what time of day - early or late eveninig?? Maybe a longer exposure time at same aperture before making adjustments in PE4 or CS2? hard to say - I love this photo even though it is a little dark - my immediate name for it was midnight at the oasis - but i cant justify using the word oasis!!
