Naff decorations

By Boyoclark
Photo of Cwmbran shopping centre Christmas lights that don't work.

I'm sorry but I like Christmas. I also like Christmas decorations, Christmas trees, and all the cheesy stuff we see around us in December. What I don't like are local councils trying to save a couple of pounds and giving us naff decorations and pretending to be part of the festive spirit. I know... it's not a priority, there are better things to spend our taxes on and I agree. Therefore either spend wisely on quality or don't spend at all.

Right then... where did I put that fairy....?

Thanks for looking,

I rather like it as a piece without the decorations! Because of that I'm grateful that the council are such tight-wads that I can completely ignore their paltry lights.

The combination of twee (non-working) fairy lights with brutal hangar-like architecture is just surreal. But it does make for a great abstract.

Not too far from us is the town of Peterlee whose town centre Christmas decorations consisted of a threadbare pine tree henceforth known as the "Peterlee Twig", adorned with a dozen bulbs half of which didn't work. And it reached the national news two days running, the second time after the Forestry Commission supplied something a little better.
Yours is far more artistic - yes, it has diagonal lines in it, better by far than the Peterlee Twig. It looks better still now that I have sorted out the optical illusion that suggested I was looking at it from above rather than below. Or was I?

Hi, I like this and christmas! Oddly enough I was in my local shopping centre yesterday and with a camera in my pocket. I almost took a picture of there decorating efforts but didn't, probably put off by the fact that they were working!!
Good image!!
