Natalie 3

By Anthony
ok, here we go with another shot of Natalie.

This time with a colour adjustment, as suggested by Banehawi (Willie). Now the problem is, i cannot tell if its right or not, so please do let me know if I have got it right.

Apart from that, I loved the image, and i hope you enjoy it too.

Regards

Anthony

Another great portrait Anthony, I like this a lot. It does however have some minor problems; and they are only minor. I can't keep my eyes of that shadow on the right side of her nose, with a reflector or a little fill in flash, this could have easily be eliminated (or subdued at least).

The background is also a problem; Choose your background carefully, they shouldn't distract from the portrait at all. There is a large white band (reflections from a river?) which is actually brighter than her dress; had the background been darker it would have allowed the white dress to stand out more. What may help (in the short-term) is to photograph the background separately as a stand alone image and see if there are any distractions, then recompose the shot with model insitu. Backgrounds really can make or break a photo.

And Finally, her skin. She is a very attractive model (you've chosen well) but she has a number of freckles and even a blemish on her left arm (to the right of the photo). You may both be happy with this but may wish to consider removing the freckles (or at least making them less obvious), it's your call. Most models in professional photography have flawless skin and how you treat your model's skin is your personal choice but something you should consider in future.

I hope this helps. Your portrait photography is superb so don't be put off by my minor niggles (I'm quite fussy anyway).

Best of luck and I look forward to meeting up on Wednesday (6 June!)

Andrew.

cheers Andrew, its all a larning curve, before 2 weks ago I had never worked with a model, and up till now i have done seven shoots. Im loving the interaction and the learning curve, so all advice is gratefully received.

The bright section is in fact rocks situated along the river bank, the sun ws blazing out there, which is why we took refuge under a bandstand. I was already using the flash, cant find my reflector, lol, so i'll consider moving it further around.

I hear what your saying about her skin, but i never liked that overdone smooth skin effect. I do apply a few gentle filters, but i wont go too far with it. Just my preference.

Still appreciate the time it took to leave your comment, and yes, looking forward to Wednesday too, first round on the one with a job. Oh, thats you.... ha ha
