Nature's Art

By Sue_R
Something a little bit different from me today. While out taking photos in the garden on Sunday I was fascinated by the patterns of the snow covered branches of this elder tree (little things please little minds Smile) And when I processed it, I felt it was calling out for the mono treatment. I'm rather pleased with the way it's come out. Hope you like it too.

Many thanks for your votes and comments on my snowy seed head images. They really are much appreciated.

Edit - V2 is a cropped version following Fraser's suggestion. Flipped it horizontally too as I felt it looked better with the space to the left of the image.

I love images like this; I've tried it myself but never converted to mono. It works so well!

I too like image like this. If you don't mind me saying the gap into the centre of the buch would be better off centre - it would create a bit of tension in the image.

Got the treatment spot on Sue, it really makes for a lovely image. Great title too.

Beautifully filling the frame with the snow-laden branches makes a superb winter abstract.

Thanks for your votes and comments.

Fraser, I totally agree with you and would have done so if the tree had been wider, but I wanted to crop out all the thin ends of the branches as I didn't want any sky showing through. Might try cropping it a bit on one side to see if that helps.

I think V2 is a bit more dynamic Sue, it leads you across the frame from left to right.

It certainly is different for you, Sue. A very well seen abstract pattern pic Smile I don't know how it looked in colour, but it definitely works well in mono. V1 looks good to me, but then looking at V2, I think this does have the edge over V1.
Again, like to wish you and Phil a very Merry Christmas and a very Happy New Year Smile

Marvellous fresh image Sue reminds me of the cherry blossom festival in Japan. Nicely taken and nicely processed in Monochrome.

Two superb natural abstracts, good to see you branching out into other areas of photography
