"Nautical Graveyard"

By RonnieAG
With having many a sleepless night due to the heat I have been able to reorganise many of my Events/Albums on the Mac and I came across this image which I had forgotten.
This is gong to be another so here I am uploading at 2.20am.
About 14 vessels lie rotting away in this basin at Bowling, the remains of two showing left: not sure about the red and blue couple ....... the red is always there, the blue occasionally so it must still be in service. And to crown all there's a burned down pier b/g right.

My thanks to all who commented on Wild Red and with special thanks to Lillian and Ju {JuBarney} for their much appreciated User Awards.

It is sad to see old boats retired off in neglect Ronnie
as someone give their 'eye teeth' for the chance to clean it up
you have captured a whole story here...perfectly

We've several hulks rotting away near us in an old harbour. Baffles me as it's such an eyesore, you'd think the council would do something - nothing as photogenic as your capture

Such a sad indictment of careless owners, but it makes a great image.

This heat has the opposite effect on me Ronnie, I'm well into Siesta mode, preparing for emigration I guess.

A wonderfully observed and composed photograph Ronnie. Whilst there is plenty to see and sit back and admire there is also an overwhelming feeling of loss and grief within.

What a shame, it makes you wonder whether they have just been abandoned because of the expensive upkeep or whether they do indeed still have owners.
Some strong colours and excellent detail just shows all the decay.

You would think that the owners (someone owned them at one time) would be asked to remove and dismantle them............dry them out and sell the wood for wood burners.............hey presto problem solved...........GrinGrinGrinGrin

Things are easily solved when we write our thoughts down..............not so easy in practice................TongueTongueTongueTongue

well for sure on our next day out Ronnie I'm not going there with you as you may leave me behind with the other wrecks, as a young boy I used to go here a family friend and as it happened the family doctor had a converted fishing boat there called the GIRL JEAN I would probably be about 11 at that time gives you an idea how long it has been.

A fine capture of the state of affairs a true reflection of a lot of waterways and old harbour areas.

I slept last night from 11 to 10 this morning aided however by 7.5mg of sleeping tablet muggy evening as murder

A well composed image of this treasure trove for photographers.
We went once with camera club - must revisit.
Good to know the blue boat is still being used but good for you when they're both there for that added colour.
