Nelly Ayre Foss

By WhiteRose1
Many thanks for all your comments on my Broken Down Angel. Still 'up Norf' for this image - a little known waterfall near Goathland (Heartbeat Country)
called Nelly Ayre Foss on West Beck. A stiff walk through thigh-high bracken and a scramble down the bank, I'm not surprised this one is not that well
frequented - we had it all to ourselves! Not a lot of water flowing in the beck at the moment so the waterfall lacks that power and impact but given a long
exposure with the 10 stopper and the sunlight through the trees it becomes a somewhat idyllic spot.

Iso 100, f11, 131 secs @24mm. Tripod, remote and Hitech 10 stop ND filter. A bit of pulling and pushing in CS5 as well.

Dave

(sorry, no idea after whom this waterfall was named)

Great image and stunning light. I am not a lover of extreme lengths of exposure, but, I think this one works to bring out the colours and reflections.

Spot on.

A captivating image, Dave. I'm no fan of water-as-ectoplasm, partly because it's such an overdone cliché, and partly because when fast-flowing water is treated in that way it simply doesn't look anything like water. Makes my lip curl to see it, usually. Thankfully though there isn't much in this shot, and you haven't made a feature of it, so I'll let you off this time Smile
I like the reflection.

Looks like an ideal secret location for skinny-dipping, Dave. Good opportunity to get your Big Stopper out as there was no-one else around.Tongue
There can't be many 'undiscovered' locations left now. With t'internet and so-called social medier there aren't many secret left.
Looks as if you got the exposure just right here.

Beautiful structure of the water!Smile I have never took pictures with such a long exposure...Sad

P.S. Here, too, you will need to obtain a permit before building. But if you are not going to use the building for commercial purposes and it will not damage the environment and the general architectural form, then you only need the permission of local deputies... And thank God that in the government, both local and federal level, there are not only rogues and fools!Wink Thanks Dave!
